1. About us
Chapter & Choice is run by Chapter and Choice Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16640645). Our registered office is 9 Manor Farm Road, Ford, Salisbury, SP4 6DG. You can contact us at hello@chapterandchoice.co.uk.
2. About these terms
These terms apply to all orders placed on chapterandchoice.co.uk, whether you're buying a gift (the "buyer") or receiving one (the "recipient"). By placing an order or redeeming a gift, you agree to these terms. Please read them alongside our Delivery & Returns policy and Privacy Policy.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in place when you place your order will apply to that order.
3. How our gifts work
When you buy a stack, you're buying a gift that lets your recipient choose a set number of books (one, two or three) from that stack. Your recipient receives a gift email or printable certificate, uses it to open their personal gift page, chooses their books and enters their delivery address. We then send the books to them.
4. Placing an order
A contract is formed between you and us when we email you an order confirmation. If we can't accept your order, for example because of an error in pricing or a product description, we'll let you know and you won't be charged.
You're responsible for making sure your recipient's details, such as their name, email address and send date, are correct. If the gift email hasn't been sent yet, email support@chapterandchoice.co.uk and we'll update them for you.
5. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include any applicable VAT. Delivery charges are set out in our Delivery & Returns policy and are shown at checkout before you pay.
You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Klarna. All payments are processed securely by Stripe.
Recipients never pay for their gifted books or delivery. If a recipient chooses to add extra books when confirming their choices, they'll pay for those at checkout.
6. Sending the gift
You can ask us to send a gift email to your recipient, either straight away or on a date up to 60 days ahead. Alternatively, you can choose a printable certificate with a unique code to give them yourself. Please keep certificates and codes safe, as anyone with the code can redeem the gift.
7. Redeeming a gift
Your recipient has two months to choose their books. For emailed gifts, this starts from the day the gift email is sent. For printable certificates, it starts from the date of purchase. The expiry date is always shown on the gift email or certificate.
Gifts that aren't redeemed by the expiry date will expire and are not refundable. Gifts can't be exchanged for cash or credit.
Recipients can choose up to the number of books gifted from the stack they've been given. Each book must be a different title. Once a recipient has confirmed their choices, changes may not be possible.
8. Our books
All our books are brand new and we refresh our stacks regularly. Very occasionally, a title may become unavailable. If so, it won't appear on your recipient's gift page, and any replacement will be carefully chosen to suit the stack. Cover designs may differ slightly from the images shown.
9. Extras
If you add an extra to your gift, such as a sweet treat or bookplates, it will be sent with your recipient's books. Very occasionally, an extra may become unavailable, in which case we'll replace it with something similar.
Our sweet treats may contain allergens. Ingredient and allergen information will be available to your recipient as they're making their choice.
10. Delivery
We deliver to UK addresses only. Delivery costs, timings and tracking are set out in our Delivery & Returns policy. Delivery times are estimates, and we're not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
11. Cancellations, refunds and returns
You can cancel your gift for a full refund within 14 days of purchase, as long as your recipient hasn't yet chosen their books. Full details of cancellations, refunds and returns, including what to do if a book arrives damaged, are set out in our Delivery & Returns policy.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Accounts
You don't need an account to buy a gift. If you create one, please keep your login details secure and let us know straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
13. Our responsibility to you
If we fail to comply with these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or our failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Our products are for personal, non-commercial use only. We have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
14. Your personal information
We only use your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy. We never tell the buyer which books their recipient has chosen.
15. Events outside our control
We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. If this happens, we'll let you know as soon as possible and do what we can to minimise the effect.
16. Complaints and disputes
If you're unhappy with anything, please email us at support@chapterandchoice.co.uk and we'll do our best to put things right.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in the courts of those countries.
17. Contact us
